If you're a Qualified Building Surveyor with experience in managing a diverse commercial and corporate property portfolio, and you want the challenge of working in a fast-paced team, then we'd love to hear from you! You’ll be using your technical skills and knowledge to deliver the Building Maintenance Plan (BMP) which sets out all of the building maintenance requirements including capital investment, remedial work from statutory inspections as well as planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
Main Responsibility
- To prepare design drawings, specifications and pre-tender safety plans for minor works, extensions, alterations adaptations and refurbishment of a range of buildings
- Preparation of project documents and specifications, managing the tender process, ensuring budgets are met and best value achieved.
- To be responsible for a rolling programme of stock condition surveys and compiling and updating stock condition data used in the development of maintenance programmes and asset management plans, providing asset planning data as required
- To undertake building surveys of properties across the portfolio, particularly in order to establish the extent and cause of any defects and to prepare reports with recommendations relating to the extent and nature of any necessary remedial works
- To advise and undertake interim and terminal dilapidation reports and negotiations
- Provide professional advice and support to clients in fulfilling their duties under the CDM Regulations 2015. To act as Designer & Principal Designer under CDM Regulations 2015 for construction works, liaising with the HSE where appropriate.
- Preparation and presentation of reports and papers for managers and clients as required
- Delivery of property projects ranging from procurement and implementation for repairs and minor works to significant construction projects and refurbishments
- To participate in an out of hours ‘on call’ rota, including key holding and as necessary either attend ad hoc emergencies or organise emergency repairs
The Ideal Candidate
- BSc (Hons) Building Surveying degree and membership of a professional body e.g. MCIOB or RICS or prepared to achieve full membership within an agreed timeframe.

3 years post qualification experience.

Proven working knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning and other relevant regulations and legislation pertinent to property project management and maintenance.

Knowledge of Local Authority procedures, particularly procurement rules.

Full clean driving licence and ability to work from any site.

Evidence of analytical and logical concept and planning skills, particularly cost modelling and computer-aided design.

Proven ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including non-industry, over a variety of complex and technical issues whilst sustaining productive relationships.
