Job Introduction
We’re hiring a Housing Surveyor to join our Housing Maintenance and Investment Team who look after more than 11,000 city council homes and work closely with contractors to deliver responsive repairs and investment works.
You’ll work within our newly formed Housing Claims Team to inspect properties, prepare reports and specifications for any work needed for housing disrepair claims. Working alongside our legal team, your surveyor expertise will structure our approach on claims as well as how we work with tenants on issues.
A Building Surveying degree and membership of a professional body such as MCIOB or RICS is essential or if you’re prepared to achieve full membership within an agreed timeframe and have demonstratable significant disrepair experience.

Main Responsibility
- Survey properties where claims or other significant and complex issues have been identified.
- Produce clear reports and work schedules.
- Work closely to agree work schedules and time frames.
- Work alongside legal and neighbourhood colleagues to progress claims appropriately.
The Ideal Candidate
- Significant experience inspecting properties in the social housing sector, underpinned by your surveyor qualification.
- For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role. You will also be required to provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use.
