Building Control Support Assistant

Job Introduction

The Building Control team ensure that buildings in Milton Keynes meet building regulations and as such are safe, healthy and inclusive. Our business support operations are busy with varied tasks.

We’re seeking a Building Control Support Assistant with good attention to detail, who can work at pace and who can support in the creation of new processes. Ideally, you’ll have experience within a building control body or construction sector.

In return, you’ll join a friendly and supportive team who are always ready to help. We’re a hardworking, collaborative team working to make sure we’re delivering building control services in line with Government changes.

This is a 12-month fixed term role.

Main Responsibility

  • Join the support team as the first point of contact for customers, colleagues and external agencies to the building control service.
  • Review data and information to process and validate building regulation applications.
  • Support with the monitoring and management of the building control central email and communication.
  • Assist with the financial systems, raising invoices and orders as required.
  • Support the service with data cleansing, migration and implementation of new data and document management system.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships and achieve cooperation from others to deliver organisational objectives.
  • Understanding and knowledge of working within a legislative field, with demonstrable understanding of attention to detail.
  • Experience of handling and understanding architectural plans and building information.
  • IT literate, very confident with database systems, excel and a good working knowledge of generating reports which are accurate and informative.
  • Experience of working with financial systems, raising invoices, and reviewing financial data.
  • You must have Level 3 business administration qualification or equivalent.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
