Job Introduction
We’re seeking an Assistant Surveyor to join our Commercial and Development Team.
You’ll assist in the management of the city council’s commercial portfolio which is a combination of standalone and local parade premises throughout Milton Keynes.
You’ll work across commercial business tenancies, including leases, licences and tenancy at wills. You’ll also assist in managing casework, property inspections, measurement, instructing and liaising with stakeholders as well as managing purchase orders and rent billing.
We also have some exciting upcoming projects that you’ll be able to get involved with.
This is a fixed term role until 31 March 2026.
This role is may suitable for home working, following an assessment.
Interviews will be held on 15 and 16 May.

Main Responsibility
- Assisting the Commercial & Development team in managing the commercial estate.
- Inspecting premises undertaking visits and measurement.
- Property management and rent billing/finance tasks.
- Instructing building and maintenance contractors.
- Processing lease applications.
- Drafting heads of terms and rental valuations.
The Ideal Candidate
- Ideal candidate will have property experience.
- A RICS accredited degree or working towards.
- The role would suit an estate management student as a placement year.
- The role will suit a suitably qualified property graduate.
For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
