Job Introduction
Milton Keynes Council is excited to be developing its Environmental Operations team as it prepares for a new Environmental Services contract and delivery of its ongoing ambitions of becoming one of the Greenest Cities. Milton Keynes is built with significant green infrastructure in mind and this expanse of linear parks, open spaces, estates, lakes and biodiversity all require acute management. You will be responsible and be part of a team that is leading the most detailed review, advancement and transformation of green landscape in Milton Keynes in 20 years and seeing reinvestment back into our green spaces, taking forward the investment in biodiversity and creating a more resilient environment to future climate change. Working with our contractors, Councillors and residents you will be part of an exciting, multidiscipline team which has a blended delivery of surveying, problem solving and project delivery.
Main Responsibility
You will maintain accurate and timely records and administration tasks to aid the contract management process. You will also carry out site investigations and tree inspections and work towards achieving the Lantra Award in Basic Tree Inspection. You will also work towards and complete the Business Administration Apprenticeship at Level 3 within 18 months from the start date.
The Ideal Candidate
Problem solving, interested in the environment, happy to work both indoors and outdoors, experience / interest in trees and landscaping, focussed on working as a team and supporting the residents of Milton Keynes. Good communication, written and organisation skills.
GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths or equivalent e.g., Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths or demonstrable ability to achieve during apprenticeship
