Job Introduction

This is a great opportunity to become part of a small and friendly city council team responsible for delivering the scanning and indexing of customer contact for Revenues & Benefits, Blue Badge assessment and administration, concessionary bus passes, and general administration support for the Revenues & Benefits team.

We’re looking for someone who can communicate confidently and effectively with customers and colleagues to achieve the appropriate outcome. You’ll be able to understand, plan and prioritise workloads by working efficiently and accurately whilst delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll be involved in all aspects of ensuring an efficient service is provided to Revenues & Benefits customers using all access channels such as online, email, telephone, in writing and on occasion face to face appointments.

Full training will be provided to any applicants demonstrating strong transferable administrative and customer service skills.

Main Responsibility

  • Provide an efficient service to Blue Badge and Concessionary Fares applicants and Revenues & Benefits customers using all access channels: online, email, telephone, in writing and on occasion face to face whilst maintaining high standards of personal presentation and customer care.
  • Verifying and processing all original documents received into the Service ensuring that they comply with the legislative requirements.
  • Accurately index scanned documents where Email Connect has not been able to the appropriate location.
  • Understand the Service’s administrative processes and the legislation governing the Blue Badge and Concessionary Fares.
  • Process payments and record such income correctly and accurately on city council systems.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrable excellent administrative skills including the ability to use a range of IT systems.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability and experience to understand, plan prioritise workloads in line with statutory published or instructed time scale.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
